Should You Rent or Buy?

Renting Is Wasting Money

But is it?  You get shelter and a roof over your head.  You know...warmth.  Running water.  Heat.  Safety.  Maybe even amenities.  Is that a waste?  The common opinion in the marketplace is that owning is the wisest move and the truth is.... sometimes.  It needs to be a long term investment and you need to be ready for it when you buy.

The Hidden Costs of Owning

Speaking of being ready most people don't understand the true investment needed.  I'm not talking about down payments, that's another post.  Instead, I mean the regular monthly expenses and savings needed to be a homeowner.  Here's a list of some of the things you'll need to consider but it is nowhere near exhaustive.

  • Water & Sewer Bills
  • Personal Umbrella Policy
  • Upkeep Savings (Plowing, Mowing, etc.)
  • Pest Control
  • and More (pssst... watch the video)

So the next time someone tells you, "You NEEEED to buy a house!  It's a smart investment!" take a step back, think for yourself, and make a savvy financial decision.   Want to find out how to be prepared for home ownership?  Book a free consultation and let's chat about it!
